OUR THERAPUTIC PRACTICE:

During the first telephone contact we will seek to understand the reason for the referral and how we can be most supportive.

If appropriate, one of us will offer an initial consultation to better understand the concerns and expectations together with the family and young person we will consider how to proceed.

Following the initial consultation there are various options, depending on the needs that have been identified. These include:

Assessment This aims to provide a deeper understanding of the nature of the child or young person's difficulties in the context of his/her family. This will help to plan a suitable treatment.

The assessment usually takes a few sessions, individually or jointly with the parents, followed by feedback.
Individual psychotherapy with children and young adults This can vary in frequency and duration.
Parent Work This work supports parents who feel challenged and worried by the young person's behaviour and would like to better understand their relationship with their child.
Family Work This intervention addresses the child or young person's difficulties within the family context.
Consultation and supervision To colleagues and allied professionals, on child and adolescent mental health and treatment.
Educational settings From nursery up to secondary school. A tailored package of services can include individual work, consultation to staff, parent groups and teacher's training courses on relevant topics of engaging with child and adolescent mental health.
